Upwards of two million businesses in the UK could be entitled to compensation for energy mis-selling, according to energy litigation specialists Energy Solicitors.

Following the emergence of an energy scandal involving rogue brokers, the Newcastle-based legal experts are further highlighting the need for businesses to challenge the fragmented energy market and recover money that is rightfully theirs.

Energy Solicitor’s Director and Senior Partner, Victoria Myers said: “If you’ve used an energy broker, they may have added hidden commission into your energy contracts without clearly explaining it.

“Energy brokers legally have to disclose any commissions earned, but over the years many have made misleading statements or concealed their financial incentives.”

Experts at Energy Solicitors believe the market is fragmented and due to a lack of regulation over many years, many businesses have fallen victim to mis-selling and incurring substantial losses.

The law firm is seeking to enable businesses to understand the nature of the deals they have done and recover monies where they have been overcharged.

Victoria continues: “Our aim is to change the business energy market enough that Energy Brokers remove mis-selling and become more transparent.

“It is really disheartening that businesses have been exploited by hidden commissions, but we are dedicated to exposing the wrongdoings and recovering funds that are rightfully theirs.”
